An East Bangor woman, who has an unusual name, faces drug charges after allegedly trespassing at CVS in Bangor, according to police. Sadie May Irene Nancy Jane Nansteel, 24, of the 100 block of Lakewood Drive, was barred from the store at 35 N. Main St. by the manager there, after being caught concealing items for sale about 7 p.m. April 28, police said.

Driver going too fast on Route 611 cited in crash, cops say

Speed was a factor in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on Route 611 south of Easton, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Michael J. Callahan, 20, of Holland, Pennsylvania, was northbound on the road, also known as South Delaware Drive, in Williams Township just before 4 p.m. when he slowed to turn left onto Browns Drive, police said.

The Northampton County District Attorney's Office says campaign signs for a Bangor area judge lacking a required disclaimer by the election code are unenforceable. The issue was brought to the attention of Dee Rumsey, the county's chief registrar of the elections division, following an emailed complaint by resident Kris Lytle.

The Slate Belt Council of Governments recently formed the Slate Belt Animal Advocacy Group, which wants to establish the animal shelter, expand the role of the local animal control officer and provide other services needed for the local pet population.

Two people are charged in connection with burglaries at cigarette stores in Scotrun, Brodheadsville and Wind Gap and at a bank in Washington Township, Northampton County. An East Bangor man caught burglarizing a restaurant in the borough used his pit bull-type dog to attack a Pennsylvania State Police trooper responding to the incident early Thursday, according to police. Two troopers were hurt in the incident that lasted more than five hours, from about 1 a.m. to 6:15 a.m., state police at Belfast said.
